Central Animal Hospital is Moving!!

After 11 years at our present location, Central Animal Hospital will be moving to a new location. But, we are not moving very far...
In mid-July, our new location will be on the south side of Speedway Boulevard just east of Alvernon Way. We will be just across the street from the Lucky Strike Bowling, and just west of the Safe House Coffee Shop. A map of the new location can be found here.
Moving has given us the opportunity to design a facility that can provide a clean, healthful and modern environment for our patients, clients and staff. The building will be a LEED-certified facility -- a certified "green" building. Just a few of the special features of the new building include:
extensive daylighting -- we have taken a mostly windowless building and brought in natural light via a central light monitor, glass block and solatubes.
automatic light adjustment -- depending on the amount of natural light coming into the building, the electric lights automatically adjust to provide the needed foot-candles of lighting for that room, at that particular time of day.
high levels of building ventilation -- carbon dioxide and temperature sensors throughout the building adjust the ventilation to provide a healthful and comfortable environment.
energy recovery systems -- recover energy, heat or cold, from exhausted air and return it to the fresh air that is being pumped into the building.
solar hot water production
photovoltaic panels for the generation of electricity -- only a fraction of our needs, but every little bit helps.
rain-water harvesting for our plants -- cisterns will store a small portion of the rainwater that runs off the roof.
use of sustainable building materials -- the materials used for construction are produced as locally as possible and from materials that be easily re-grown or replaced.
low toxin production -- the building materials and adhesives must meet strict guidelines that will prevent fumes and toxins from being released into and lingering in the building and the environment... a much more healthful building for all.
etc. -- there are so many tiny details that make this "the right thing to do" in building construction.
